How is the age calculated accurately?
The tool compares the birth date with today in the Gregorian calendar, counting full years first, then full months, then the remaining days. When the current day of the month is smaller than the birth day, days are borrowed from the previous month using its real length (28, 29, 30 or 31 days) instead of assuming a fixed month length. That handling of unequal months is what makes the result more accurate than plain subtraction.
Leap years and February 29
A February 29 birthday is never lost: in non-leap years the tool treats the birthday as February 28, so a full year appears on that date and the next-birthday countdown keeps working without errors.
The Hijri calendar: why a one-day difference?
The Hijri date is converted with the tabular arithmetic calendar based on the 30-year cycle, a calendar with fixed rules that gives each month 29 or 30 days according to its position in the cycle. The official calendar in Saudi Arabia (Umm al-Qura) relies on moon sighting, so the converted date can differ by one day. Use the result for reference and comparison, not for official transactions.
What do the totals mean?
- Total days: the full number of days between the birth date and today, including leap-year days.
- Total weeks: total days divided by seven, ignoring the remainder, as whole weeks are usually counted.
- Total months: full years multiplied by 12 plus the remaining full months.
Frequently asked questions
Is the result accurate?
Yes. The Gregorian side is calculated day by day and accounts for unequal month lengths and leap years. The Hijri side may differ by one day from official calendars because it uses a different reference.
How are February 29 birthdays handled?
In non-leap years the birthday is treated as February 28, so a full year appears on that date and the countdown keeps working without errors.
Can I enter a Hijri date?
Yes. Switch to the Hijri calendar and enter the day, month and year; the tool converts it to Gregorian for the precise age and shows both dates together.
Why is my age a day or a month different from another calculator?
Some calculators subtract days directly or assume a fixed month length. This tool borrows from the real length of the previous month and handles month ends consistently, so results can differ slightly.
Is my birth date sent to a server?
