How the conversion works
- 01Upload the image
Choose a file from your device or drop it into the upload area. Accepted inputs: JPEG, PNG, GIF and WebP up to 10 MB.
- 02Adjust the options
Pick the output format, the maximum dimension and the compression level. The aspect ratio is preserved and smaller images are never upscaled.
- 03Download the result
Once the browser finishes the conversion, review the size and dimensions, then download the new image.
Supported formats and how to choose
Conversion runs in your browser using Canvas. The original is not uploaded; one private copy of the converted output is stored. Inputs can be JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP.
- WebP: a good balance between quality and file size, supports transparency, and is the default choice for the web.
- JPEG: ideal for photographs, but it does not keep transparency and the image is re-encoded during conversion.
- PNG: lossless compression suited to graphics, text and transparent images; the compression level does not apply to it.
- GIF: accepted as input, but the result is a still frame from the first frame because animation is not supported.
Dimensions and quality before downloading
- The maximum dimension caps the longest side of the image; for example, 1920 px means neither the width nor the height exceeds that value, with the aspect ratio preserved.
- Images smaller than the selected limit keep their original dimensions and are not upscaled.
- The compression level affects WebP and JPEG only; lower compression means a larger file and higher quality.
- Conversion re-encodes the image; always keep the original file if you need maximum fidelity.
Frequently asked questions
Is the tool free?
Yes. Conversion is completely free and needs no account or sign-up.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
The original is read and converted in your browser, then one private copy of the output is stored.
Which input and output formats are supported?
Input: WebP, JPEG, PNG and GIF. Output: WebP, JPEG and PNG. Animated GIF cannot be exported.
Why does a PNG file not get much smaller?
PNG uses lossless compression and ignores the compression level. Use WebP or JPEG to shrink photographs.
Is there a file size limit?
Yes, the limit is 10 MB per image.
