How to create a QR code from text

1. 01Enter the text

   Type or paste the text, or pick one of the quick presets. The limit is 2,000 characters.

2. 02Customize the code

   Set the code color, background, size and error-correction level from the Design and Advanced tabs.

3. 03Generate and download

   Press Generate to render the code, then download it as PNG, JPEG, WebP or SVG.

What happens when text becomes a QR code?

The text is encoded into the code pattern itself, so the result scans without an internet connection. The image is built in your browser and the text is never uploaded to a server. A code holds about 2,331 bytes at medium correction; because each Arabic character uses two bytes, the practical limit for Arabic text is around 1,100 characters, and lower at higher correction levels.

Maximum text length

• The field accepts up to 2,000 characters - a fixed interface limit.
• Real capacity depends on the error-correction level: medium allows about 2,331 bytes and high (H) about 1,273 bytes.
• Arabic and other non-Latin characters use two bytes each, so long Arabic text can be rejected before reaching 2,000 characters.
• If the text is rejected, shorten it, lower the error correction (for example to L), or split it across two codes.

Tips for a reliable scan

• Keep strong contrast between the code and its background.
• Leave the white quiet zone around the code and test the scan at the distance people will use.
• Very long text increases code density; split it into shorter codes if scanning becomes slow.

Before printing or sharing

• Test the scan with a phone camera at the distance people will actually use.
• Never crop the white quiet zone around the code.
• Print large enough for the scanning distance, and avoid shrinking the code on busy materials.
• Use PNG or SVG for print work; SVG is best when the code must scale up.
